Kaleidoscope #121

And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound:

Kaleidoscope #120

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys‍—‌and St. Nicholas too:

“Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer and Vixen,
“On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Dunder and Blixem;
“To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
“Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

Below is the original photo used to create this image. My strongest Christmas memories center around the box of presents and treats my grandparents would send from Arizona. My Gramma loved to shop flea markets and there would always be a cute, handmade ornament. My Gramma is still going strong but she can’t do all the baking and shopping anymore. I’ve held on to these treasures, and I gathered them all together to take a simple snap from my smartphone. I added a touch of brightness in Photoshop.

Kaleidoscope #118

Kaleidoscope #116

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash.

Kaleidoscope #115

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads,
And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap;

Kaleidoscope #114

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
